A professional body purpose-built for Nigerian risk management.
The Chartered Risk Management Institute of Nigeria (CRMI) was established by Act No. 39 of 2022. Originally founded on 29th March 2000, the Institute is a professional body for risk management professionals — established to promote best practices and advocacy in risk management and related disciplines in Nigeria.
CRMI provides distinct and value-added services through a pool of industry experts and seasoned professionals. The Institute offers professional certifications, education and training programmes, research, and networking opportunities to individuals involved in risk management. We work to enhance the understanding and practice of risk management across various industries and sectors.
CRMI sets the national standard in professional designation through the Chartered Risk Manager (CRM) certification programme, and maintains a Mandatory Continuing Professional Education (MCPE) framework for its members.
Today, money deposit banks, merchant banks, development banks, and non-financial institutions are all members. Individual membership opened in 2006 and has grown considerably since. We collaborate with regulatory authorities in policy advancement, and our track record in workshops, seminars, conferences, and capacity-building is well established.
CRMI remains committed to promoting the practice of risk management in Nigeria and advocating for its inclusion in the strategic decision-making processes of both the private and public sectors.
